Seminar: Research, Law and Ethics in the Frame of the Horizon 2020. From a Moral Duty to a Legal Requirement for Funding
The new EU research programme – Horizon 2020 – which kicked off in January 2014, will introduce many novelties to the ethical aspects of the evaluation, selection and implementation of EU-funded research compared to the previous Framework Programme. Horizon 2020 will raise the level of ethical expectations in Europe’s science base and ensure a regular ethics check of research to guarantee its compliance with the relevant legal and ethical requirements. This special seminar will preview the main ethical challenges associated with the funding topics to be covered in the Horizon 2020 Programme, as well as discussing the new rules introduced in the application process, and presenting what makes a successful proposal from an ethical perspective. EU officials and experienced researchers will discuss the best practices in the field; participants will furthermore have the opportunity to meet and connect with them.
